hi there!!
we’re on Challenge #5 over at ScrapStars — this time around the theme is “Hot For Teacher” !!
the challenge was to pick a teacher who has inspired you at some point in your life and do a page about them!! pictures were optional, which was a good thing because i was having a hard time finding my yearbooks to scan & print pics of the two AMAZING teachers i picked for my page. someday, though, right? i left the spaces kinda editable so i could go back and add them if i ever find them. i picked the two most influential teachers i ever had: Mr. Tabor, who was my 7th/8th grade Ohio History & Computer teacher at Chippewa Middle School, and Mr. Brown, who was my Jr/Sr. Math/Computer/Independent Study teacher at the Wayne County Schools Career Center. i loved those guys so much — both nerds like me!! :) i thought the oldschool typewriter was a nice touch!!
here are the pages:

and here’s the journaling, since it seems itty-bitty:
MR. BROWN:
Mr. Brown was my Junior/Senior Math and Computer teacher at the Wayne County Schools Career Center. He is DEFINITELY in the Top 5 of my Top 10 Most Influential People in My Life! Before I had his class, math literally meant NOTHING to me. I didn’t understand it, didn’t care, and and didn’t know how it was ever going to apply to what I wanted to do with my life (which at the time was to become a High School History Teacher - no math there, right?) He was able to break down algebra problems to me in a way that made sense - I don’t know how to explain it, but it just seemed so much easier the way he taught it. He ended up being my Independent Study supervisor my Senior year, after I opted to do my own thing (since I was so much farther ahead of everyone else, I had been a computer geek for years at that point!) I feel like he always encouraged me and challenged me to achieve my fullest potential, and he is probably one of the coolest nerds I’ve ever met! In addition to having a K-12 teaching certification, he held a dual degree in Engineering and had done that for some years prior to deciding to teach at the vocational school. He was also fluent in several languages, the one I remember most being German. He was also the first person who I know that also liked their Coke with a slice of lime in it! I am glad I ended up in his class - I can still work an algebra problem to this day thanks to him!
MR. TABOR:
Mr. Tabor was my 7th/8th Grade Ohio History and Computer teacher. I think that’s why I liked him best out of all my teachers - the two subjects I liked were the two he taught! He was probably the CRAZIEST teacher I ever had by far, too! He sort of resembled Albert Einstein with darker hair, sometimes glasses. If you had to use the restroom or ask any general question, you had to form it like, “Can YOU go to the restroom?” Otherwise, if you asked it like, “Can I go to the restroom?” he would say, “Well, no, because I don’t have to go right now.” Once you got past the asking stage, you had to wield some ridiculous hall pass to go to the restroom, which changed by the week. Some weeks, it was a giant yellow rubber boot, some weeks it was a fish mounted on a plaque - anything that you could think of that would be as embarrassing to carry down the hall, hence discouraging students from really WANTING to have to carry it out of the classroom. He always wrote me passes to get out of other classes too, so I could come down to the computer lab to mess around on the computers and read the books and magazines he had in his room. I think I grew the most in my nerdiness during that time. :) I will never forget crazy Mr. Tabor and his hall passes, the wall in his office that he let all of his students sign, reading everything in the textbooks including the punctuation (comma) and how much he encouraged me to pursue something I couldn’t live without - computers.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my page :) Make sure you head on over to ScrapStars (www.scrapstars.net) and give the challenge a try for yourself and check out what our fabulous new Design Team has to offer for inspo as well!! have a scrappy-happy day
